If a user posts their question in a thread that has nothing to do with his/her question, we should be able to detach the post from the thread, so the new user question has its own thread.

The moderator toolbar is only displayed when viewing the thread list. For this, we would need to specify which post in the thread to detach, so I assume it would go along side the Edit, Delete, and Report icons. (screenshot attached)

This can be part of the ForumUX release. We will need an icon for the "detach" button. Any proposals?

I also created to permissions, analogous to the "edit" permission, to allow for flexibility of which user groups we want to be able to detach posts. A SQL patch will follow for these.

Run the SQL patch to be able to test with other users that do not have the admin forum permission.

In r48715 on the ForumUX branch. Will need to run the SQL there before it's testable. I'll wait a bit to see if any other SQL's get r+ed today :)
